They say you’re only as old as you feel. Well, based on that, we’d say that Lorraine Ocampo is about 22 years-old. Except, that’s not what she says! If you ask Lorraine, she’ll tell you plainly that she is 100 years-young. She could have fooled us. Watching her on the dance floor, we thought we saw a spry youth with dance moves that put our own to shame.
The jury’s out on whether these agile old folks are the exception or an example of how to do your Golden Years correctly, but we can’t help but stand in awe with folks like Lorraine, who has been dancing since she was a little girl.
When you can say you’ve been doing something for over 90 years, that’s an incredible accomplishment in its own right. Most people don’t even make it that far from start to finish, let alone spend that much time clapping their hands and stomping their feet. It calls to mind the old George Bernard Shaw quote, “We don’t stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing.”
