This might sound strange to some, but if you spend much time on Pinterest, you'll know exactly what I mean: tension rods are the new wood pallets. Just like the DIY revival that's happened with wood pallets in the last few years, bloggers are finding all sorts of new and helpful ways to use tension rods throughout their homes. And, believe me when I say, they're not hanging curtains! From organizing craft supplies to creating a pet gate, we've seen all sorts of unique and versatile designs, but today, Janell Inez, otherwise known as “The Handy Ma'am,” is taking them into the kitchen.
Let's be honest – if you're anything like me, you have a few kitchen cabinets and drawers that you hope guests don't open. They're disorganized and cluttered, but you need everything they hold. That's where Inez comes to the rescue. The Los Angeles-based mother-of-three knows what it's like to live a busy lifestyle, and has used her DIY skills to not only organize her own home, but to build a successful career. She's hosted her own shown on the Scripps Network, The Handy Ma'am, for three seasons, appeared on The Steve Harvey Show multiple times, and even ran campaigns with the one and only Ellen DeGeneres.
While Inez boasts that she is quite handy with power tools, the great thing about tension rods is that there are no drills or screws involved. Even the least handy of us can install one, and, for those of us who rent, there's no worry about losing a security deposit over something as silly as holes in the wall. If I have one word of advice, it's to buy them in bulk! Once you start to organize with tension rods, you won't want to stop.
