Horses are undeniably beautiful. Whether you ride them or simply like watching western films, there's something so romantic about a horse galloping through an open field. Here at Wimp, we love stories about animal rescue, but when you throw in 75 horses and a seemingly impossible adoption goal? This story is almost too good to be true.
Two years ago, the Hooved Animal Rescue & Protection Society, or HARPS, found and rescued 75 abandoned horses. They had been living in terrible conditions, with barely enough food, water and shelter to survive. Instead of being allowed to run free, these horses were kept locked up, waiting for some kind soul to rescue them from their unfair circumstances. That's when HARPS stepped in and changed their lives. They rescued all 75 horses, but the hard part was far from over. They soon realized that they only had a few weeks to find a forever home for each horse, otherwise they would be sent to slaughter.
It was a daunting task, but HARPS knew that they were the only hope these horses had of surviving. So, in October of 2014, HARPS joined forces with Hands and Hooves of Chicago to help get these horses to a better place. Check out the video to see how their ambitious mission turned out.
