Allegories and metaphors are a great way to learn new ideas and philosophies in a “language” you understand. Into sports? Have someone translate their concept into baseball terms. Into cars? Gears and gas. It was even a common trope on the “Star Trek” television series to use simple metaphors to turn futuristic science fiction into something we could all understand. This clever story, relayed by Stephen Kaczor, a farmer, environmentalist and educator in Panama, is spoken in the language of crops, but is something I think we can all grasp.
