A Former Limestone Mine Houses A High-End Security Facility

Some of the earliest records stored in Iron Mountain facilities (there are several, though the one shown here is the best known) were corporate records put into safekeeping amidst the Cold War scares of the 1950s and 60s. Today, comparing Iron Mountain to the famous warehouse of treasures from "Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark" wouldn't be too far of a stretch. The facilities house countless original recordings and negatives for musical, cinematic and photographic works of cultural importance, as well as all sorts of official records and digital data storage.
Iron Mountain Inc. is an American information management and data storage company headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1951, Iron Mountain is one of the world's premiere data management companies with revenues in excess of $3 billion and over 156,000 customers throughout the world. It was originally started in an abandoned iron mine in upstate New York by a mushroom salesman looking to store excess inventory, but when the market shifted he found an alternate use for his property.
