A lot of people have had to deal with bullying as kids. When I think of bullying, I think of mean tweens in a middle school or on an elementary school playground. Some bullies wise up and grow out of this ridiculous behavior, but sadly, some just get older.
Dianne Hoffmeyer lives in Michigan with her 22-month-old daughter. In an effort to appease her teething child, she paid a visit to her local Tim Hortons for some donut holes. It was while she was waiting in line that she overheard something she didn’t like. Behind her were two middle-aged women who apparently never grew out of their mean phase. The two started loudly making fun of Hoffmeyer, hurling insults at her hair and body, saying things like, "Oh, she's a whale - the whale needs to eat.”
Hoffmeyer was understandably hurt. She had struggled with her weight in the past and had lost 177 pounds. She was hurt and confused by such an unwarranted attack. "I don't know why they would choose to say something like that,” Hoffmeyer said. She wanted to do something in response, but she didn’t want to just send a message to these women, she wanted to send the right message to her daughter as well. What she did next stunned everyone.
