A Touching Reunion Between A Recently Rescued Baby Bird And Its Parents
Mar 27, 2015
The bird Patrick rescued is a baby killdeer, a type of plover that is best known for using a "broken wing" distraction technique. If the nest is in danger of attack from a predator, an adult bird will walk away from the nest dragging its wing on the ground to look like easier prey and draw the predator away.
It's videos like this that let us know there are still good people out there. Patrick Smith was taking a break just outside of his Southern California workplace, when he noticed this baby bird trapped in a PVC pipe. Patrick rescued the bird and filmed its joyful reunion with its parents, which he posted on YouTube. The video has warmed hearts around the world and has been seen over 400,000 times in just a day.
