It’s so important to remember that wild animals are just that: wild. While some zoos do have appropriate facilities to care for lions and operate on forward-thinking, humane principles, some zoos just aren’t fit for man or beast. One such zoo housed several lions. As if that wasn’t bad enough, the zoo closed, and simply left the lions behind. Thankfully, the dedicated veterinarian who was caring for the lions decided to take care of them, keeping them as healthy as possible for two whole years before help could be found.
The Four Paws animal rescue foundation was able to transport the lions to the Lionsrock sanctuary in South Africa, where hopefully the lions will have healthy, long lives in their natural environment.
