The "fake cry" has been the subject of several studies by scientists and is, of course, overwhelmingly familiar to any parent. Due to the name "fake crying," we tend to think of it as a negative attempt by the baby to manipulate their caregivers. Scientists have found that the more accurate term would be a "calling cry." Without the power of language to communicate their needs, babies rely on crying to communicate just about everything, so there is no malice here - just an attempt to communicate.
If there's an Oscar award for Best Baby Actor then this little guy is sure to get the prize. This Vine video, posted by user Omarybaby, has been viewed over 6.7 million times and the Internet seems to be quite smitten with this baby's ability to turn his heart-wrenching sad face into an instant smile as soon as his mom calls him out on it. He even raises a hand as if to say "Haha, you got me."
