An Adorably Tiny Baby Bunny Nurses From An Equally Tiny Bottle
May 18, 2015
People sometimes make the mistake of seeing a rabbit's nest in the wild and assuming that the mother is dead or has abandoned her babies because they haven't seen her come to feed them in a while. In truth, rabbit milk is the most calorie-packed of all the animal kingdom, and kits only need to be nursed a few minutes a day (usually at night). The rest of the time, the mother stays away from her nest to avoid attracting predators to it.
Baby rabbits are known as kits or kittens. They are absolutely adorable, but are also very fragile in the early part of their lives. Hand-rearing a baby bunny, as seen in this video, is something that should only be done if you have a lot of prior experience handling and raising rabbits. The bunny in this video is 2 weeks old, and is an orphan.
