An 'Alice In Wonderland' Scene, In The Style Of 17 Famous Artists

Sep 16, 2015 By Houston Barber
When released in 1951, Disney's "Alice in Wonderland" received criticism and disappointing box office numbers. By the 1980s, however, the film was re-released twice and the consensus changed. The Disney adaptation of Lewis Carroll's books is now seen as one of the all-time Disney classics with larger-than-life characters and iconic scenes that have aged well.

One of the more memorable scenes is Alice's visit to the tea party where she encounters the Mad Hatter. Using a "neural algorithm of artistic style" Gene Kogan has re-imagined this scene in the style of 17 different artists including:

Pablo Picasso
Georgia O'Keeffe
S.H. Raza
Hokusai
Frida Kahlo
Vincent van Gogh
Tarsila
Saloua Raouda Choucair
Lee Krasner
Sol Lewitt
Wu Guanzhong
Elaine de Kooning
Ibrahim el-Salahi
Minnie Pwerle
Jean-Michel Basquiat
Edvard Munch
Natalia Goncharova
