Animals Frolic At Cincinnati Zoo

Feb 27, 2015
Most people would agree that winter has long since worn out its welcome, but some of the residents at the Cincinnati Zoo would beg to differ. While most people are likely to be familiar with the polar bears and king penguins in the video, the first animal might be new.

That adorable critter is the red panda (sometimes called the "red cat-bear") and, despite its name, is scientifically closer to a raccoon than a bear. The red panda is native to the Eastern Himalayas and Southwest China. They live in trees and though their preferred diet is bamboo, they will also catch and eat birds, insects and other small mammals. Sadly, the red panda is endangered due to habitat loss and poaching.
