While many of us associate poverty with conditions in third world countries, it may come as a shock to know just how prevalent the issue is within the United States.
The poverty guideline in the U.S. for a family of five in 2014 was around $27,910. While many of us can't imagine getting by on so little, 16% of the population lives below that line. Sadly, 16.7 million children are included in these numbers and live in conditions where food is not always available.
