Artist Uses Skill And Precision To Make Tiny, Glass Scientific Instruments By Hand

May 27, 2015

Kiva Ford has spent years working to create complex glass instruments for scientific use. A graduate of a Scientific Glassblowing program and a member of the American Scientific Glassblowers Society, Ford creates for scientists who need one-of-a-kind designs to complete their experiments. Outside of the scientific research world, Ford is also known for his artistic work with glass in areas like goblets, pendants and bottles. There is no question that he has perfected his technique for working with glass.

Lately, he has released a new series of work based on the tiniest of tiny glass objects. He has created perfect mini glasses, tiny beakers and vases, and even miniature vials. A unique venture, Ford will be performing several demonstrations at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York as part of GlassFest. He also offers his work for a not-so-small price on Etsy.
