Every decision an artist makes while creating a piece, from the type of materials they use to the venue they display it in, is a part of their art. Belo, an interdisciplinary artist who specializes in large installations, puts a lot of thought into every aspect of his work, creating a rich experience that can be appreciated on multiple levels.
A couple years ago, Belo used 66,000 cups filled with rain water to form a breathtaking mosaic. Understandably, some people accused Belo of wasting water for the sake of art, but that's exactly what he wanted them to say. Belo said that the different colors of water he used represent varying levels of toxicity in the world's water supply. The image and the water used to create it are meant to raise awareness of the world's lack of clean water.
