With the abundance of animals that are occupying shelters around the country, more people are turning to adoption when looking to add a furry addition to the family. Sadly, after the end of December, shelters start to take on the highest numbers of unwanted animals. Many of these loving creatures are former gifts and surprises from the holidays that came from homes that were unprepared to care for them. Adopting a pet should always be an informed and planned decision instead of a spur-of-the-moment whim.
