Brazilian construction workers in the region of Pará got a huge surprise recently when they discovered a 33-foot-long, 880-pound anaconda on their construction site!
The men were doing some routine blasting near a cave and believe this is where the snake came from. They used a crane in order to lift it out of the site.
The videos received some backlash from people who objected to the fact that the snake was chained down during the removal process.
One user wrote, "I'm not sure this is real, but if it is, shame on these people for killing it! A snake that big has probably been alive for a very long time now, just to be killed for a few pictures?? What a waste…"
It should be stated that it remains unclear if the snake was actually killed during the removal process.
Large serpents are not uncommon in South America, which is home to some of the world's largest breeds of snakes. The largest snake of all time, the prehistoric, 40-foot Titanoboa was also once a resident of the tropics of Colombia.
