For instance, the rising water trick is caused by the candle flame consuming the oxygen inside the tube, and this creates a vacuum which sucks up the water. The candle see-saw is a result of the bottom end being more exposed to the flame (since flames point up), and losing more wax than the top. The top gets heavier and comes down, and the process starts again, creating the see-saw effect.
