Invented in 1886 by John Pemberton, a pharmacist known as "Doc", Coca-Cola was his first successful invention. He decided to create it after serving during the Civil War. Unfortunately, most of his inventions failed, many of which were drugs. So, Pemberton decided to try to create a beverage after making a move to Atlanta.
Today, Coca-Cola is one of the most-loved sodas on the market. Nonetheless, the soda has received a lot of criticism due to the potentially poor effects on the health of consumers. Some of the biggest controversies include the ingredient high fructose corn syrup, which could be linked to diabetes and obesity, as well as its acidity, which could increase the chances of damage to the teeth.
