Computer Generated Water Shows How Far Animation Has Come

Experimentation with computer graphics and animation began as early as the 1940s. We often think of computer animation as a relatively new art form, with Pixar films like "Toy Story" being our first encounter with the medium.

At first, computer graphics were primarily used for research in scientific fields, but by the 1960s, artists began using them as well. Computer generation is so powerful because it lets artists turn their wildest ideas into reality. It also allows artists to recreate the world around them in extreme detail, as is the case with this test footage from Cinema 4D. Videos this realistic make us wonder if we'll even be able to tell the difference between computer generation and reality in the future.
