Crows Are Actually Smarter Than Most Children

Jun 14, 2015 By Archit Tripathi
Crows are simply fascinating birds. They, and other members of the family Corvidae, are widely regarded as some of the absolutely smartest birds on the planet and have been the subject of countless studies. Even back in Aesop's days, examples of crows solving complex problems of volume displacement were fairly well known.

Intelligence in animals is often measured by use of tools. Crows not only make tools out of grass and twigs - they have been known to make tools that are specifically intended for the manufacturing of other, more complex tools. They also remember faces very accurately and communicate with each other, so it's probably wise to stay on their good side. Some researchers are starting to think that crows and other corvids may actually have their own language that is nearly as well-formed as our own.
