The original, world-famous Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California first opened its doors to visitors on July 17, 1955. As they prepare for their 60th anniversary, the folks at Disney have unearthed some old archival footage of the park as it was being built.

It's thrilling to actually see things go from being scaffolding to being the castles, rides and streets that we know and love today. It's even cooler to see the park's first visitors lining up, especially once you consider that over 650 million guests have visited since then.

This video is just part of the Disneyland Resort Diamond Celebration, which also includes opening up Disneyland (Anaheim) and Disneyland California Adventure for 24 hours on May 22.
