All around me, I see the telltale signs of Christmas. Trees are going up, windows are being lit and stockings are being hung (by the chimney, with care). One of my favorite parts of the season is decorating. I simply love the way the ornaments all add their own little charms to the tree. A great thing to try to do is make your own ornaments and as this video shows, it's actually pretty easy.
All you need to do is wrap some string or twine around a balloon, then dab the whole thing with a mixture of glue and water. After the glue dries the twine will be set in place and you can remove the balloon by simply popping it. Voila! In no time at all, you've made yourself an elegantly understated Christmas ornament. I love the glitzy, glowing ornaments too but I have to say there's something about the simple, almost rustic charm that these have that I really like. If spheres aren't your bag, you can also do this procedure with a cardboard cone - laminated with tape to prevent sticking - to make tree shapes.
