It's almost summer, and that means it's time for that long-awaited trip to the beach. You can bring out your swim trunks, boogie board, and everything else you've had stored away all winter long. The most important thing you can bring, however, is your sunscreen. Not only can a sunburn be painful and irritating, it can also cause serious long-term health issues for some people.
If you spend enough time in the sun, you're bound to get a sunburn at some point. But, if treated properly, you can make the effects of the burn minimal. The problem is, most people don't know what to do when they get sunburnt. So, Claudia, from the blog Healthy Treasures is here to help. Claudia and a friend have developed a remarkably simple DIY sunburn solution that only has two ingredients. They take a spray bottle and fill it with peppermint oil, lavender oil, and water, then spray the mixture on the affected areas of the skin. The essential oils soothe and cool the skin much better than any sunburn kit or aloe vera gel ever could.
Claudia recommends using the solution no later than 24 hours after getting burned. The quicker you spray on the DIY mixture, the bigger the impact it will cause on your skin. So, when you go to the beach this summer, make sure to have your essential oils handy.
