Dog And Owner Explore Abandoned Places Around The World

Jan 6, 2016 By Herbert Collier

Exploring the countryside of any continent, you are bound to come across abandoned buildings. Even within some of the most densely populated cities of the world, buildings that have long since been forgotten still stand tall as a shell of their former selves. They are often dangerous and sometimes spooky, but it’s hard not to wonder what went on there and the reason they are no longer used. It can seem like the stuff horror movies are based on, but who doesn’t love a good mystery?

Driven by her sense of curiosity, Alice van Kempen has set out to explore many of the abandoned buildings and locations that can be found across Europe. However, she didn’t embark on this journey alone. Accompanied by her dog Clair, Alice took these incredibly candid photos in buildings that have seen much better days.

Clair is pretending to be a homemaker in what looks like an old laundry room.

Looking good in first class of this train cart.

A tailor in training.

Who’s ready to see the dog-tor?

Cracking the case. I wonder what’s inside.

A doll that has seen much better days.

Aviator glasses? Check!

It’s such a shame to see a place like this go to waste.

“Sing us a song, you're the piano man.”

What was once a child’s room is now in tatters.

Ready for today’s lesson?

This dining room is just a shell of its former self.

What’s behind door #3?

Ever heard of a dog giving the sermon at church?

I can only imagine how beautiful this place once was.

Happy with some color in her life.

What an interesting choice of color for the walls.

Doing laundry, the old-fashioned way.

After a long day of work and adventure, it’s time to hit the hay.
