Elementary Math Problem Is Fooling People Everywhere

It's been a long time since many of us have taken a math class. Chances are you might not be super fresh on the order of operations. This little equation has been circling the web recently and many people are finding it difficult.

It looks easy doesn't it? Go ahead and keep your answer in your head and read on.

"Please excuse my dead Aunt Sally." Does that sound familiar? That's a mnemonic device for remembering the order in which you need to perform different mathematic operations.

“Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction.” If you do a problem in any order but this one, your answer will most likely end up wrong.

The first thing you need to do is the division. 3 divided by 1/3 is 9. Now you can do your addition and subtraction. 9 - 9 = 0. Add 1 and that's your answer, 1!
