Puppies are adorable, but many people underestimate just how much work goes into caring for them. They’re basically toddlers covered in fur, whose main objective is to eat, poop, pee, play, sleep, chew and repeat – not necessarily in that order. They wake up early in the morning and demand walks, chew apart anything that’s left lying on the floor and have accidents all over the carpet. By month four or five they begin to mature, but getting there can be a struggle.
Jess Santana’s grandmother knew all about the woes of raising a pup, and repeatedly told her husband “no” when he asked for an English bulldog. She feared the responsibility would be too much to handle, but her kids and grandkids finally convinced her to make her husband’s dreams come true. When the family presents him with his furry surprise, his response is one that any dog lover can identify with. And you know what? I think grandma is falling in love with the pup, too.
