After attending many games together, three friends decided to put their heads together and try to mathematically increase their chance of scoring a foul ball. They created a tracking system that collected information about where each stray ball lands during a game. Surprisingly, this statistic was one that had not yet been analyzed.
They took their research findings and used them, with some savvy coding, to launch the IdealSeat app. Thirty ballparks are currently active on the app.
It's hard not to think about the possibility of catching a foul ball when at a game. Unfortunately for most us, the odds aren't great. While you might just luck out like Micah Graves did at the Biloxi Shuckers game, there's a more calculated method you can try.
