Few things are more magical than a child's imagination. When we're young, the entire world seems to be filled with a sense of wonder, and our dreams and aspirations reflect it. We pretend to be princesses, cowboys and astronauts all before dinner time. If there's anyone we can thank for allowing our minds to run wild, it's our parents. They spark our imaginations by taking us to museums, enrolling us in extracurriculars and, perhaps most importantly, giving us books.
Books are a wonderful way to expand a child's imagination and introduce them to stories that speak eternal truths that can be applied to the rest of their lives. Kyla Boyse, of the University of Michigan Health System, says that "reading can be a fun and imaginative activity for children, which opens doors to all kinds of new worlds for them."
Recently, a little girl asked her father for a "fairy tree in her room that she could sit inside and read books." This dad could have easily run out and purchased some sort of "fairy tale play set," or hired someone to come and build something for him, but he decided to do something extra special for his daughter instead. What followed were hundreds of hours of blood, sweat and fairy dust, all to make his little girl's dream come true. Check out the images below to see how this crafty dad turned a bedroom into a fairy tree house.
