From Far Away, It Looks Like The Eiffel Tower. Up Close, Its Unexpected Purpose Is Revealed.

With a population of just 1,700 people, Paris, Russia is a little smaller than its French namesake. It may be quieter, smaller and colder than the original Paris, but it has its very own Eiffel Tower replica.

The cellular company needed to build a tower to give Paris residents (Russian Parisians?) service. They could have just built a standard tower, but where is the fun in that?


It's become the centerpiece of the little village. 


It stands a 1-6 scale of the original. It lights up romantically at night, just like the original.

The Russian town of Paris was named by its Cossacks founders in the 1800s as they returned home victorious from a campaign against French Napoleonic forces in 1815.
