Fun Animation Shows Us How Design Improves Our World

Mar 3, 2015
"Shape" is an animated short film created to promote the use of design as a tool for positive change in the world. Specifically aimed at young people, the film is attempting to get this age group thinking about how the world around them is made and where design fits into it. "Shape" was written by Scott Burnett, designed and directed by Johnny Kelly, and produced by Ali Grehan. The film was commissioned by PIVOT Dublin and Dublin City Council.

PIVOT Dublin is an initiative driven by the need for better design, holding the belief that urban areas that use design as a tool become better cities. The initiative began in 2009, born out of Dublin's desire to be designated the "World Design Capital 2014." The PIVOT name serves as an acronym that can be summarized as the following: Promote design, Inspire culture, Value networks, Offer opportunities, and Translate ideas into action.
