Jeanne Robertson might look like a sweet little old lady, but she's got a sense of humor that would make a much younger woman (or man!) jealous. And after hearing this story about her daddy, it's clear that her funny streak is genetic. However, Robertson doesn't consider herself a comedian, but refers to herself as a humorist. Although both comedians and humorists dish out the funny, the context for their performances are different. While comedians are there to get laughs, humorists generally have an external point of teaching or motivating their audience. Robertson draws the distinction like this: "The humorist weaves longer stories with a point. We don't go 'after' anybody. I'm telling my life."
