While promoting "Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi" in 1983, Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) did an interview where he first laid out George Lucas' plans for the franchise to go beyond its sixth episode. Since the 1977 original, Lucas believed the Star Wars saga would continue. Coincidence or extremely prophetic? Either way, the foundation for more films has always been the idea.
