Leonard Cohen is regarded by many as one of the greatest songwriters of all time. Born in the city of Westmount, Quebec, the Canadian singer, painter, writer and poet came from very humble beginnings. It wasn't until he enrolled in McGill University that he became known for his incredible writing talents. He won intercollegiate competitions for poems he wrote while attending McGill, and his success eventually led him to pursue the career path that made him famous around the world.
At 81 years old, Cohen's body of work continues to influence performers of all ages. During the 9th season of the hit television show "The Voice," 22-year-old Jordan Smith took to the stage to perform one of Cohen's most iconic songs. With an incredible talent like this, it's hard to see him not going far.
