He Marched Across California As A "Star Wars" Character In Memory Of His Wife

The San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is one of the biggest media events of the year for pretty much all things nerdy (please note: as a huge nerd myself, I use that term incredibly affectionately). Started in 1970 as the Golden State Comic Book Convention, it originally showcased primarily comic books as the name suggested but has since evolved to include animation, anime/manga, toys, pop-culture collectibles and memorabilia, video games, fantasy novels, and also movies (particularly all the recent superhero movies).

For one man, however, this year's SDCC is a lot more than just an excuse to catch previews of next summer's blockbusters - it's a way to pay tribute and maybe get some closure to the passing of his late wife. Kevin Doyle and his wife, Eileen, were both self-described nerds and Star Wars fanatics. Sadly, she succumbed to pancreatic cancer on November 7, 2012. Now, Kevin is walking to San Diego in a Stormtrooper outfit to raise money for her charity and in the hopes that when he comes back, it'll finally be November 8th for him.
