The Colorado Correctional Industries (CCI), based in Colorado, is proudly the headquarters of the Prison Trained K-9 Companion Program. They change the lives of inmates and canines through developing mutual bonds and strong relationships. When a dog is rescued and taken into this program, they are sent to an inmate and trained. When the dog is ready to go, the dog is sent off to meet his loving family. This particular inmate raised Esther, a severely abused dog from a puppy mill. Esther was brought up through the program and was cared for greatly by her trainer. What is most touching about the program's process is seeing the prisoners and dogs go their separate ways.
