Here Is North Korea's Capital City Like You've Never Seen It Before

Jul 27, 2015 By Sarah Brennan
North Korea has developed quite the reputation for being closed off to the rest of the world. Stuck in something of a Cold War time warp, with a government to which many countries and people object, this country is the subject of intrigue for world travelers.

JT Singh, a city-branding pioneer and media artist, teamed up with videographer Rob Whitworth and Koryo Tours, North Korea's leading travel specialist, to create this amazing look at the country's capital and largest city, Pyongyang. North Korea's reputation has led to speculation on whether or not this is a propaganda piece. In anticipation of this, Singh released some information regarding the making of this film.

While they were given editorial control, they were not allowed to film any military personnel, construction sites or undeveloped locations. They were, however, granted special access to a number of locations. Whether or not this is a form of propaganda, it is an insightful exploration of a surprisingly modern location. We've all seen photos of North Korea, but this is a completely different view.
