Here's How Law Enforcement Officials Dispose Of Illegal Fireworks

Mar 24, 2015
Did the 4th of July come a little early in Glasscock County, Texas? That's probably what some area residents were thinking when local bomb squads participated in a joint exercise with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to destroy 20,000 pounds (that's a whopping 10 tons) of seized fireworks.

The fireworks were seized by ATF and sadly were not allowed to be donated, due to a court-ordered mandate to destroy them. The detonation took place during the day because it's destruction of illegal contraband, not a celebration. All told, it took roughly three days to go through all 10 tons, and this video represents just a small fraction of the full exercise.
