Fun fact: "The Sound of Silence" was never meant to be in the classic film, "The Graduate." The filmmakers had used it as a placeholder while editing and decided they liked it so much they paid for the rights to the song and the rest was history. The iconic imagery from the film and this eerily beautiful song were forever entwined.

As years have passed, the pensive music has almost become a shorthand for someone lost in faraway thoughts and introspection and this has even been parodied to great effect in the TV series "Arrested Development."

The amusement ride footage in the following clip features a rider who seems to be lost in his own deep thoughts, as the ride careens up and down in a way that would terrify just about anyone, except for this one man.
