Beau Lotto, a neuroscientist and founder of Lottolab, wants you to know that nothing exists. That is, instead of the images in the world having any inherent meaning, we decide what we see. As optical illusions have taught us, two people can look at the exact same piece and see two completely different things. Beau and his team at Lottolab are out to do more than trick our eyes with clever pictures, though.
Lotto sees perception as something that can be used to create a more empathetic and understanding world. He believes that if we use technology to change how we perceive the people and places we see every day, then we can foster a global community where everyone understands each other a little bit better.
