How To Control Someone Else's Limbs With Your Brain

May 2, 2015
Greg Gage is on a mission to bring neuroscience to kids everywhere. As a graduate student studying the brain, he and a buddy thought that it was unfortunate that you have to be a graduate student in order to play with equipment that truly shows the cool and interesting workings of the brain. So they started Backyard Brains, an educational toy company that makes affordable, DIY brain experiment kits.

The company's flagship product is the Neuron SpikerBox, which can be used to "listen" to or manipulate an invertebrate leg. Most recently, the company came up with their first human-to-human interface (HHI), which is demonstrated here. The technology allows one user to control another user's arm. While the everyday applications of this technology are still a bit abstract, I think this would definitely be fun to use and liven up a party.
