Hungarian Artist Carves The Most Intricate Sculptures From A Single Pencil

Jun 15, 2015

For most of us, the only time we ever really think twice about a pencil is when we're making sure it's a #2 pencil for taking standardized tests. Hungarian artist and DeviantArt user "cerkahegyzo," however, thinks about pencils a lot. The artist carves meticulously intricate sculptures out of pencils. Most of them (with the exception of nos. 5 and 15) are made from a single pencil. By day, he works as a professional tool maker and uses carving as a relaxing hobby to engage in after work.

Cerkahegyzo was inspired by the works of Dalton Ghetti, an American artist who also makes sculptures out of pencil lead. The tools to make these particular sculptures were needles, razor blades, sandpaper, files and polishing stones, and they were carved from all varieties (HB, B, 2B, 4B, etc.) of pencils.
