In Japan, Certain Roads Play Music For You

Jun 20, 2016

No good road trip is complete without music, which is why one road in Japan will play drivers a song if they drive on it at just the right speed. That's right, part of the Subaru Highway on the way to Mount Fuji contains rumble strips that have been spaced far enough apart so that they mimic Kyu Sakamoto's song "Miagete Goran Yoru No Hoshi Wo." The Subaru Highway is just one of three roads in Japan to contain this amusing feature. It has become so popular among drivers that Lancaster, California stole the idea for one of their own roads, which has since been nicknamed the "Musical Road" and can be found on Avenue G.
