Few people can claim to be as lazy about their gardening as David Latimer. The last time he watered his plant, Nixon was still President. Okay, so it’s not laziness, it’s just one of the most successful bottle gardens ever seen. Quite a fad in the ‘60s and ‘70s, they’re still popular amongst particularly avid plant hobbyists and also in many science classrooms. They’re quite the educational tool when it comes to explaining how our world works, since they do the same, but in miniature.
It doesn’t take much to start one yourself. The biggest trick is finding yourself a good bottle or jug. Then it’s just really some dirt, a plant, and a healthy watering or two to get the ball rolling.
