Few things are more entertaining than a fireworks display. The booming sounds and the dancing lights really capture the feeling of any celebration. It's a shame that there isn't always the occasion for such displays, but that is part of the magic: when you see fireworks, you know something special is happening. That something special doesn't always have to be a holiday, however, with fireworks competitions and exhibitions happening all around the world.

You'll see one such exhibition above. This incredible "Sky Ladder" was the dream of Chinese artist and pyrotechnic enthusiast Cai Guoqiang, from Quanzhou City in southeast China. The installation used 1,640-foot-long wires covered with fireworks. A large weather balloon hoisted the wires into the sky and created the incredible, climbing display. When he finally realized his dream, Guoqiang dedicated the feat to his grandmother, in honor of her 100th birthday.
