Killer Whale Gets Uncomfortably Close To A Paddle Boarder
May 25, 2015
According to the 27-year-old Reilly, there were multiple Orcas in the water, hunting for stingrays and other sea life. Then one whale in particular noticed Reilly and proceeded to follow him for close to five minutes, even getting close enough to nibble on the end of his board. He then began to yell at the Orca, hoping to scare it away. Fortunately for the surfer, the whale was just curious and swam away leaving Reilly completely unharmed but admittedly "a little freaked out."
Luke Reilly of New Zealand was out for his typical early morning surf when he had a very untypical encounter with a rare and notorious sea creature. Reilly had heard rumors of Orcas appearing along the coast of his hometown so he decided to bring a camera along with him and was able to capture beautiful footage of the massive whale in its natural habitat.
