Any pet owner can tell you that their animal is so much more than a pet - they're part of the family. That's why losing that pet can be an absolutely devastating loss. That's what happened to one Indiana family, who lost their dog, Chuckie, five long years ago. Thankfully, however, they were able to be reunited with him thanks to one thing - Chuckie's ID microchip.
Chuckie was found by the Humane Society of the United States, along with 165 other dogs and cats that were rescued from truly deplorable conditions in Adams County, Ohio. Many of these animals were left outside, while others were confined to tiny cages. Most of them were starving and in poor health. As part of their protocol, the rescue workers scanned all 166 animals for microchips. That's how they were able to realize that Chuckie was among the dogs they rescued and that he had a family in Indiana who had missed him for five long years.
In this video, we see the joyful reunion between him and his family. This reunion was only made possible thanks to that microchip, which is why more pet owners should definitely consider having their vet implant one into their pets as well, just in case the worst should ever happen.
