Surgeons are constantly called upon to perform impossible feats to save the lives of their patients. Their job requires both technical discipline and split-second creativity as they figure out the best way to heal people in critical condition. Dr. Geoff Askin, nicknamed "The Godfather of Spinal Surgery," had to use every bit of discipline and ingenuity to save the life of young Jackson Taylor.
Only 16 months old, Jackson's head was separated from his spine when he, his mother and sister were involved in a terrible car wreck. Using wire and a small piece of Jackson's rib, Dr. Askin was able to graft his spine and head back together. His family is so thankful for Dr. Askin's work, which has allowed their son to not only survive, but walk and laugh just like before.
