Giving birth to twins is always a little miracle in and of itself, but the birth of Amy and Katie Jones-Elliot was literally one for the record books. Born 87 days apart, these twin girls hold the Guinness World Record for the longest interval between the birth of twins.
Over the course of her pregnancy, Maria Jones-Elliot unexpectedly went into labor during only her 23rd week. Her husband rushed them to the hospital as the couple prepared for the worst. Doctors told them that their children would most likely not survive but on June 1st, 2012, Amy was born four months premature and weighing less than a pound. However, her twin sister was not yet ready to say hello to the world.
While Amy and Maria were both being cared for at the hospital, Katie continued to develop for 87 more days inside her mother. On August 27th, Katie was finally born after doctors induced Maria. Lucky to be alive, the birth of these twins couldn't have been more of a miracle.
