Apr 24, 2015 By Christi Mulligan
Images from space don't get more impressive than this one of the cluster Westerlund 2 and the area that surrounds it. The image and all its grandeur was released in celebration of 25 years with the Hubble telescope in orbit, which has led to beautiful images like this one and new scientific discoveries.

The Westerlund 2 contains about 3,000 stars and was named for Bengt Westerlund, the Swedish astronomer who discovered the cluster. It is located in an area called Gum 29, which is 20,000 light-years away from Earth.

There is a free, downloadable 25th-anniversary gift being offered by Hubble. It is an ebook with 25 of the Hubble's most amazing images. The eBook can be found on iTunes.
